A day holds 24 hours, so I've been told. A travel day for us, however, holds about 47. And that's a very bumpy, cramped, sleepless, sticky, itchy, 47 hours. Here's what those hours looked like:

12pm Tuesday- Holding onto our belongings as the now appendix-less Rachel was holding onto her swollen torso, bumping our way down to the dock in a tuk tuk.

1:30pm Tuesday- Boarding the boat to cross Lake Atitlan.

2pm Tuesday- Asleep on the boat crossing Lake Atitlan.

3pm Tuesday- Claiming seats on the packed vans. Window seat is MINE.

3:05pm Tuesday- Listening to the guys behind me talk about what they want to name their children. …Creative.

6pm Tuesday- Arriving in my favorite city; Antigua. Spending a few hours with our friends at the AIM base before saying goodbye.

7pm Tuesday- Pizza. 5 1/2 pieces of glorious pizza.

7:30pm Tuesday- Full.

7:31pm Tuesday- Juggling, swing dancing, roasting giant marshmallows.

9pm Tuesday- Still roasting and eating giant marshmallows.

10pm Tuesday- Saving movies to my laptop. I now have 129….

1:30 am Wednesday- Found ripe bananas on the counter.

1:31am Wednesday- Making homemade banana muffins!

2am Wednesday- Trying to figure out the wifi password.

3am Wednesday- Everybody's up and packing; thinking we're about to start driving.

4:15am Wednesday- Actually start driving.

4:16am Wednesday- Out.

8am Wednesday- Waking up to find we've stopped for breakfast. You know I got Oreo ice-cream and hash browns.

9:30am Wednesday- Stuck.

12pm Wednesday- Stuck and hungry.

1pm Wednesday- Tanning on the side of the road. As stuck as can be.

2:30pm Wednesday- Still stuck. Eating lunch consisting of whatever food was being sold by the street vendors.

3pm Wednesday- Inching forward.

4:30 pm Wednesday- Moving, for real this time!

6pm Wednesday- Filling out paperwork at the Guatemala/Honduras border.

8pm Wednesday- Eating baleadas in Copan.

Sometime after that- Watching one of my 129 movies with "Ireland." (Aka Jessica Donaldson)

11:30pm Wednesday- Head craning out the window, looking at the stars. Incredible.

2am Thursday- "Sleeping" on a table in a gas station. ….Desperate.

3am Thursday- Lost my water bottle.

3:01am Thursday- Dehydrated.

3:02am Thursday- Watching another movie, this time with just my parched lips.

5am Thursday- Watching the early sunrise through burning, sleepless eyes.

5:01am Thursday- Mosquito bitten legs cramping.

9am Thursday- Found myself in the familiar Tegucigalpa. Also found myself hungry.

11am(ish) Thursday- "Arrived at destination." (That's what we would have heard if Siri worked)

I showered off those bumpy, cramped, sleepless, sticky, itchy 47 hours and took a nap. We have a few days of debrief; showering, napping, and eating complimentary pancakes, then Monday starts a new travel "day" as we make our way to the Philippines. Within a matter of 6 days, we'll have seen 5 different countries. Thanksgiving's in a week, and while I'll probably be sleeping through it with jet lag, I know I'll be thankful for all the places the Lord's brought me so far. Already, I'm thankful for this opportunity to travel. I'm also thankful I don't have traveler's diarrhea… Yet.

Be thankful for every hour of every day, even if there's 47 of them.
